Happy Halloween!

Last Friday I got some of my friends together to celebrate Halloween, my second favourite festivity after Christmas. I've loved Halloween since I was a little kid mainly because I've always been obsessed with ghosts, magic and all things supernatural! And Halloween is the only time of year when all these spooky characters roam the streets and zombies were answering the door and giving you sweets, it's brilliant! The night before there was pumpkin carving, decorating the house with spooky bunting and lights, and lots of costume preparation! I went as a scary doll who ended up having a wardrobe malfunction: the tulle which I sewed onto my dress pulled the fabric down so most "ghouls" saw the top of my bra that night, oh the embarrassment.....:S and my hair was like a real-life wig, it didn't feel like it was my hair. Everyone else made such an effort, the party was brilliant, until the host ie me got way too stressed out about everything and we left the cozy borrow to continue the party in a bar. Needles to say there was plenty of cleaning, washing up and hours of trying to brush out the curls from my hair after the party was over. Now we can light the candles and enjoy a quiet Halloween with a scary movie and a bowl of candy for all the little trick or treaters who will be visiting our house tonight :)

What is everyone else up to? Oh, and PS: HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!

Faux fur wrap ASOS, shirt Primark, skirt and boots New Look, jewelry Topshop + Urban Outfitters, wool tights Topshop

I got this fur neck wrap from an ASOS sale about two winters ago, it was a bargain at £7 down from £20-something! I love ASOS sales, I think they really bump the prices down and you can get some amazing bargains. I love faux fur, I think it's really warm, really soft and comes in an amazing choice of colours. It's one trend that I look forward to every time the temperature starts dropping!
This week I have set myself a motivational task: I am not allowed to buy myself any clothes/makeup/beauty stuffs until I get the house cleaned. I live in a spacious house which I had to get because it's so difficult to rent a property where dogs are allowed these days, and since I've only ever lived in studios/flats since I moved out of my mums house I didn't realise just how difficult it would be to keep on top of a house. So being busy and travelling around the UK, getting home late and wanting to have a social life it's piled up on me and places like my dressing room and the bedroom look like a bomb filled with clothes and accessories had gone off it there! My aim is to get it all done this evening so I can enjoy the rest of the week in a tidy house and treat myself to some new bath bombs at the weekend!

Do you set yourself goals? How do you motivate yourself to reach them?

Bloom Pure Mineral Blush.

Ever since I discovered bareMinerals a couple of years ago, I have been a fan of mineral makeup. I find that it's so much lighter on your skin, it is so easy to apply and you can control how much colour goes on your face, it's great for sensitive skin and a little definitely goes a long way with mineral makeup so you can splurge and know it will last you for a while.
Bloom is an Australian beauty brand which uses natural ingredients and has it's own organic range. I found the range in Superdrug, they have great discounts and offers.(If you hurry to your local Superdrug, as this blusher is being discontinued they are discounted to about £2.99 and cheaper, rather than it's usual price of £22!!)
I love the colour of this blusher, it's a subtle pink which looks great on pale skin. I start the day by having a hint of colour and build it up in the evening with another one or two coats. This blusher also looks great with a highlighter, my pick would be Benefit "Girl Meets Pearl".

My next seasonal progression is moving on to include a hat in my outerwear outfits. I am the worst person for getting cold ears and moaning about it, so I thought I'll start early this year! I love this hat, I got it last winter from River Island and it's the comfiest, warmest hat I've ever worn! It's got a sweet furry pompom at the back which makes me love it even more. Perfect for my cold walk to work every weekday morning.
Now onto the dress, I love this dress it's been a favourite since I bought it quite a while ago but the fabric is the most difficult thing I've had to deal with. It creases way too easily and you can iron it to perfection but when you sit down or bend to grab something, sure enough the creases will appear again and not go away until the iron is out again. But because I love the style and the colour it's just something I have to live with I guess!

Have you dug out your warm essentials yet?

Shearling Comfort

Shearling gilet stolen from my mum but you can find similar here// old dress Topshop// shoes New Look// boot socks from a market// watch Urban Outfitters

I'm getting really into my shearling gilets at the moment, I love this one I stole from my mum a couple of years ago (well technically she didn't like it anymore so I adopted it really...) and it's so nice and warm! I think it looks great with a folk style dress, makes me think of autumn at Little House on the Prairie... :) I paired this with faux shearling boots I got from New Look a couple of years ago (I recycle clothes and shoes I love for AGES) and although they may look it, they're not the comfiest of shoes. But they did survive a 30 minute trek into the town where I work so I guess they get my walking seal of approval.
Halloween weekend is quickly creeping up, I'm so excited to host this years Halloween party for my friends even though I'm already slightly stressing out about the mess which will be created in our house. And my little fluff ball has to go and stay with my ma as I know he will get stressed out seeing so many people in scary outfits!
Last night I sat for hours and stitched parts of my outfit together and I'm in NO WAY a seamstress or a talented sower to it was hilarious to watch how uneven it kept coming out! I still need to go and pick up some things this lunchtime to hopefully complete the outfit, ooooooh!
PS Sinister was a great film, except for the ending. It really didn't go out with a bang! Thank you for all your horror movie suggestions, this week I will be OD-ing on films like Paranormal Activity, An American Werewolf in London and all the countless exorcist movies!

What is everyone doing this Halloween? Have you picked an outfit yet? If so, what is it?

Anatomicals Don't Just Clean It Woman, Scrub It! Body Scrub (£3.49): I think Anatomicals is such a great bargain range, with funny packaging and great scents it does exactly what it says on the package! This scrub has a fruity scent and microbeads to refresh your skin. The best way to use it is if you have a scrub mitten, squeeze out a drop of the scrub and lather all over your body, scrubbing more on the elbows and knees where skin tends to get rougher. It's a bargain buy and is a cute pick me up on those cold, rainy mornings!

9/10

Dr Jart Premium Beauty Balm (£24): This is the first BB cream I have tried and having SPF 40 and also anti-ageing properties, this balm seems to have it all. I found the balm to be quite thick for a BB cream, but it gave a good coverage to the face and although you can layer it onto the skin for more coverage I don't see the point, it's thick enough and the idea is to not have heavy makeup with BB balms, right? This colour is slightly dark for me, I'd probably use it more in the summer when I'm slightly more tanned and don't fancy heavy foundation, I wouldn't recommend it as a first BB though because of the hefty price tag!
(Sorry for the ripped box in the picture, I guess my Glossybox must have been rough handled in the process of getting to me!)

Amendment: Hey guys! So I decided to wear my Dr Jart BB this weekend and actually, I was completely wrong! Although the colour looks scarily dark when I squeezed it out of the bottle, once I applied it in a thin layer over my face it matched my skin tone. I still stick by it being quite thick, which doesn't bother me because I like a good cover up but it might put some people off if they would like a more natural look. The BB is really moisturizing, I love the feel of it on my skin and also the fact that my skin never goes dry when I wear it!

6/10 (9/10)

Skinetica Anti-Blemish (£6.99): I've been very lucky to get rid of my acne during my young teenage days, but I do get the occasional spot here and there, and my skin really suffers through the transition of seasons, especially in Autumn. I haven't tried this product yet as my face is pretty clear at the moment and I don't want to judge it without trying, so I'll amend this specific review once I have a spot (which I'm sure will happen now I said that :/)
What I can tell you is that this product boasts to get rid of spots in 2-3 days without being harmful to your skin, but when you smell it - it is strong! It smells of alcohol which makes me think it will dry out your skin completely if you have dry/combination skin. It also recommends not to wear any makeup for two days while your using it, so this product is best tested when you know you won't need to get your foundation on!

?/10

Yves Rocher Instant Anti Wrinkle Moisturiser - Hydra Vegetal (£18): Love this product, it smells of refreshing cucumber and really cools your skin once applied! This is information on the moisturiser from the website:
"They tested it: Instant decrease in wrinkle depth -9%* * Result after 15 minutes, effectiveness test on 22 women The Secret of Botanicals MOISTURE CAPTURE BOTANICAL SAPS Yves Rocher Botanical Beauty Research chose botanical Maple and Blue Agave saps for their amazing moisture-capturing power. Combined with patented botanical Betaine, they create a genuine water reservoir within skin that: - offers a source of lasting moisturising** - distributes moisture throughout the different layers of the epidermis, even the most dehydrated, to guarantee in-depth moisturising.*** Skin is filled with water, intensely and lastingly moisturised, as if plumped** and radiant with beauty! “Moisture Capture Botanical Saps have the ability to distribute moisture to all layers of the epidermis. And to respect nature, our saps are obtained through a natural extraction process.” Xavier Ormancey - Yves Rocher R & D Director ** In vitro test *** Clinically proven by In vivo test using Raman spectroscopy"
Sounds impressive! Again, because I don't have deep wrinkles at this stage of my life (I'm only 22!) I didn't see a drastic change in my face, but I loved the moisturising and cooling effect of the cream. I'd happily give it top marks just for that!

10/10

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in  (£6.99): I was so excited to see a nail polish in my box as I'm obsessing with nail colours at the moment, and I was really excited to try out Sally Hansen as I always used to want it when I was a little girl from seeing it in my magazines! The fact I got a black colour was also a huge bonus as I'm on the lookout for the perfect black. So this nail polish is a 5 Steps in 1 Bottle process with a base coat, strengthner, growth treatment, colour and top coat. Sounds perfect, right? Wrong. You are told to apply two coats and voila, job done. Well I applied two and the black was still not thick enough to cover my nails, so I had to apply a third thick coat and even then, the colour was not even. The nail polish does dry quickly, doesn't chap easily and doesn't stain nails which is great, but the fact that this black didn't sit well as a colour just ruined it for me. I will try this in other colours, perhaps the nude tones looks better, because it is a nice nail polish to have overall, just really unimpressed with the colour...

5/10

I'm really sorry my review was a week late this month, my box has yet again been delivered to me after everyone else.... Maybe it's just my area that's being delivered to last?

Leather Shorts (Take One).

Cardigan Pins and Needles at Urban Outfitters, t-shirt Truly Madly Deeply at Urban Outfitters, leather shorts Topshop (last year but you can find similar here: Oasap), boots New Look.

It's Friday guys! I'm wrapped up in a cozy faux fur trim cardigan, loving the view of fallen leaves and rain outside my window. I'm also mega excited to go and see "Sinister" tonight with one of my best friends, we are going to scream and throw our popcorn around (unless someone will tell me now that it's not actually that scary??!) I think October is probably the most appropriate month to watch horror films most nights in preparation for Halloween, it's also just started to get cold so the best thing to do in the evening is get yourself some snacks which you love, get your duvet/boyfriend/pet and snuggle up in front of the TV. I mentioned before I'm not the biggest party animal, and I prefer to literally hibernate when it's cold with lots of candles around the house, spicy food and my duvet.
I picked up these leather shorts last year in the Topshop sale, they were hugely discounted and although leather was just beginning to come into fashion, I saw them as a bargain buy. This season leather is all the rage, so these shorts have become one of my staple pieces. This look is casual, but I will also show you how to wear them for a night out/party and make the most of them!

So now you know I'm obsessed with horror films, what is the scariest film you've ever seen?

The Body Shop Moringa Beautifying Oil.

Body Shop Moringa Oil

I love oils that can go on any part of your body: face, body and hair and The Body Shops Beautifying Oils do exactly that. The Moringa oil has a subtle white floral scent and is made from a blend of nut oils, hydrates your skin and gives it a glow. I use it in several different ways:
  • Pour a few drops into the bath for moisturized skin
  • When you get out of the bath, before drying your skin apply the oil then pat dry, makes your skin super soft
  • You can also apply straight onto skin
  • Use as a face serum before bed, apply then wait a few minutes and wipe off excess with a cotton wool. Your skin will be glowing in the morning (if you have oily skin, avoid this method)
  • Use this as hair serum - when hair is wet, rub a drop of oil between your palms and then run through your hair avoiding the roots and concentrating on the ends. Blow dry for silky smooth hair.
  • You can also use this on dry hair especially if you have split ends. Rub a tiny drop between your fingers and apply to the ends of your hair.
So I'm in love with this oil, for £9 it's such a bargain as a little goes a long way and you can use it anywhere, and I love the light, floral scent of moringa.
Have you tried the Beautifying Oil yet? Which one did you choose?

In the Cave.

Skirt New Look, top and faux shearling gilet Primark, shoes Topshop, necklace Crafted at Republic.

It's now only too appropriate to start getting out your faux furs and shearling to go with chunky knits and autumn leathers. I've been so busy over the last couple of weeks travelling across England for work, and when I finally arrived at home after a hectic week I had a sleepless night because my poor pooch was unwell! We took him to the emergency vet and he's all better, he was being a little drama queen but he got lots of cudddles and a pass to sleep in the bed with us for two nights! Which I probably enjoyed even more than the pooch because I love snuggling him! But that meant another two sleepless nights for me as I was worried he might get poorly again (overprotective mother much!). So all I want to feel now is comfort and warmth and definitely flat shoes. I love faux fur and faux shearling, it's so cozy! I have to say, I was never keen on brown and black together but I think the colours blend really well in this outfit. I am now going to go and cook a mini comfort food feast including spicy chicken wings, roast potatoes and vegetables with lots of herbs and spices!

What do you guys do when you're tired and want to relax? Are cozy pyjamas on the list?

Guerlain Duo De Blush

I have been slightly obsessing with blushers over the past couple of weeks so I was very excited to get the opportunity to review Guerlain's Duo De Blush which has been featured in many magazines during the last couple of months. Rose Aux Joues is a blush duo which has a main colour and a shimmer to follow up with, the set also includes a soft tilted brush for easy application. I haven't tried a peach coloured blusher before, this comes out slightly more pink on your cheeks than it does inside the box. In the summer months when skin is naturally tanned this blusher would give it a peachy glow, but for the colder months and my pale skin, cheeks look healthily flushed like I've just stepped in from the frosty outdoors! Play around with the tone of the blusher, start off with a tiny hint of colour and build it up to your desired strength. Then sweep over the shimmer colour just above your blusher and it really highlights the cheekbones. The brush which comes with the compact is soft and tilted for easily achieved effects, but I find it easier to use my own brush as it has a long handle on it which is what I like. The colour stayed with me throughout the day which really impressed me, and the blusher is so light it feels really nice on the skin. I am very impressed with this product, although the price may not be for everyone it's truly an investment piece as you need to use only a little bit of colour to get results and I can see this lasting me for quite a while and becoming a favourite!

Do you use different blushers in summer/winter or do you stick with one old faithful?
