Body Shop Earth Lovers: Lemon & Thyme

Last year I signed up to The Body Shop Love Your Body members card and it has saved me an unbelievable amount of money. I remember I had a £30 gift card and by using my rewards and offers from the member card I managed to buy £63 worth of stuff for £30! So when I came into store and realised it has expired, the only option was to renew it. The card costs £5 but with such great savings, it's worth it. And upon opening it, I also received a gift of my choice of The Body Shops Earth Lovers biodegradable shower gel!

I picked Lemon & Thyme because it's a really fresh scent, and I thought it would be nice when spring/summer kicks in. It's also a very different scent, so I really wanted to give it a go! I literally have a whole box full of unused Body Shop stuff at the moment because I keep finding amazing bargains and keep them for their appropriate seasons :)

What do you think of this different scented shower gel? Do you tend to stick to one scent, or are you adventurous?

Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser Review.

Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to my most favourite product of the moment, the amazing Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser! I am obsessed with this product, and cannot stop raving about it to everyone who asks. I was first introduced to it when I came across some items from the Avene range in a Boots reduced corner. Oh yes, if you haven't found the reduced corner yet, I suggest you get on it snappish. We have a small Boots where I live and the reduced corner is amazing because not many people here would buy brands such as Avene, La Roche Posay or Nip + Fab so me and my friends always pick up bargains. Like the first time I bought this cleanser it cost £4 in the reduced isle because the store had overstocked them and they just needed to sell it. Amazing.

Avene has never disappointed me with their products, but for some reason I stopped buying them for a little while. Then when I found them at a discounted price, I jumped on the opportunity and bought the Extremely Gentle Cleanser which was new to me.
The first time I bought this cleanser (here comes a beauty confession - uh oh!) I actually used it in the morning to take off my makeup from the night before - it can happen, I know I'm going to get cursed in the beauty world now... If I ever do that, my pores get so clogged up and I get spots and dry patches all over my face which usually take me 1 or 2 days to clear up. I used the cleanser and went about just having a lazy weekend day and in a couple of hours when I went to have a look at the damage my skin was clear, radiant and nourished. I was amazed. I have never found a cleanser like this before, it is just a miracle worker on my skin and it is so gentle as it's been designed specifically for irritates, damaged or very sensitive skin. The product contains no fragrance, colouring agents or parabens - yay!

The bottle lasts for ages so even though it is a little pricey for £8, it will go a long way. Squeeze a little drop out of the bottle and massage into your skin for a minute or two (the product is also an eye makeup remover!) then remove with a cotton wool pad. Simples!

Gold sequin jacket found in a Boutique in Bath // dress Urban Outfitters // tights Primark // boots Topshop // bag Dorothy Perkins (old!) // jewelry mixed from Topshop, Rock n Rose and Primark

A KokoNutty!

This weekend me and my friends went on a night out in Salisbury, and damn it was freezing! It's officially Spring, yet the temperatures are still not getting above 3 degrees around this area and today we finally got hit with snow. But that didn't stop us last Friday night! I've never been out in Salisbury before and although it's not as great as some of my favourite places like Bath, it's still got a couple of cute bars like the one where we found Kokonutties which we got obsessed with as they were so yummy! It was like a refreshing Pina Colada in a coconut shell! The bar is called YoYo (thank you Emili!), the place is full of kitsch accessories and coloured cups hanging from the walls. I prefer finding places like that, rather than the generic clubs you get, character matters in your surroundings.

I wasn't going to let the weather stop me from wearing what I wanted either (freeeeezing!), I decided I'm sick of opaque tights and wanted to go for a more sheer look so I picked up these tights from Primark which are 15 Den and come in a pack of five for £2.50. I also felt that thinner tights will show my new boots off a little better than opaques, the boots I bought but can't really afford so I thought I'd wear them out and realised half way through the night that they are killing the backs of my legs but I know sometimes you just have to wear leather out. Fingers crossed.

If you like to read my style posts, please take some time to nominate FashionFake in the Company Style Blogger Awards 2013 in the Best Personal Style Newcomer category :) I'd really appreciate it!

Geek Chic

Dress and faux leather gillet both H&M // boots Topshop // glasses* Firmoo // rings Primark // silver collar Rock 'n Rose

I keep convincing myself I didn't do the silly dancing because I felt that my outfit was a little dull, but I feel that's exactly the reason. This is such a casual outfit for me, I was wearing it to a friends house where we didn't do much but have a yummy Mexican dinner and chatted about how much life can suck at times, so I wanted to be comfy and warm (the main priority in my life is being warm - I hate the cold :( ) so I threw on a faux leather gillet I got in a H&M sale for £5! Bargain, can't say no to that.

I paired the outfit with chunky accessories like my boots, rings and glasses as I thought it might bring something a little more interesting to the look and I hope I was right! The other thing I wish I did was make my hair a little more "volumptious", as I don't feel sleek hair goes with an outfit such as this, maybe if the outfit had more volume sleek waves would look cool - here I feel a messy bun or something might have been better.

If you enjoy looking and reading about the outfits I come up with, I'd love it if you guys took a minute to nominate me in the Company Style Blogger Awards! It would mean the world and a little bit more to me :)

Revlon Lip Butters in Tutti Frutti and Creme Brulee.

Revlon Lip Butter in 015 Tutti Frutti and 095 Creme Brulee £7.99 each

So I'm a little late with getting on the Revlon lip butters trend, I have to say I didn't really believe the hype and how amazing these products were made out to be. Last week they had a 3 for 2 on all Revlon products in Superdrug, so whilst grabbing a Nearly Naked foundation I decided to give these a go as well.

I chose two shades which I thought would really suit the coming weather - and it will happen, it has to get warmer soon, it just has to - a coral (Tutti Frutti) and a beige, nude (Creme Brulee). I love a pop of colour with natural makeup, I think it's such a fresh summery look, so the last night I tried on the coral and wow. Just WOW. There are rarely products that live up to the hype for me but these butters are actually amazing. They really moisturise your lips as promised and do glide on like a butter, with a really even colour.

I was instantly obsessed with wearing the lip butters, and as I only got two I can see myself down in Superdrug whilst the offer is still on, picking up as many colours as possible! Basically, they're worth the fuss that most bloggers have made and if you're not into intense colour of lipsticks, this is the perfect product for you.

Look Beauty: Battle of the Mascaras.

Look Beauty Mascara (from left - all half price at time of post): Oomph Lashes £3.5; Lash Attack £3.50; Stretch Factor £3

On a recent trip down to Bournemouth, I kind of went crazy at the Look Beauty stall in Boots when I saw that some of their products were on offer. I picked up three of their mascaras to test them out and here is my verdict:

Oomph Lashes: This is definitely my least favourite of the mascaras. It didn't have an "oomph" effect on my lashes, and the mascara crumbled (you can see the black dots in the photo) which was really irritating. I would have carried on using it if it didn't leave the black dots all over my face, but that's just something no one has time for in the morning, especially if you're constantly running late like me!

Lash Attack: This mascara kind of covers both length and volume of eye lashes in one. It has an almost triangular brush, which gets fuller at the end of the wand which makes it really easy to apply as it catches your lashes. It's not the best mascara I have used, but not the worst either. I think if you're on a budget, this is a great item, however be careful when you apply multiple coats as it has a tendency to clump lashes together, so wait for one coat to dry before applying the next.

Stretch Factor: I love this mascara. As far as natural, lengthening mascaras go - this Look Beauty mascara is one of the winners. It's definitely an item for a natural look, I love how it gently extends and gives a bit more depth to your eye lashes, without obviously looking like you have mascara on. It's my staple along with dewy skin and coral lips this spring!

I am loving two of the mascaras and I'll definitely be repurchasing the Stretch Factor mascara as it was my favourite. As these were the first products I have tried from the Look Beauty range (I also tried their powders but I will blog about them separately) I was quite impressed and I'm looking forward to trying out some more of their stuff like the lipsticks!

The Body Shop Lightening Touch Concealer.

The Body Shop Lightening Touch Concealer in 01 £14.00

I am the type of person who can't live without concealer - sitting in front of a computer all day, late nights and every day stress give me the worst dark under eye circles ever. So for me, there isn't a miracle product quite like a good concealer. I'm not a big fan of pencils either, so something with a brush is my ideal product. I haven't tried The Body Shop makeup range until a few weeks ago when I got stroppy about not being able to find the right concealer in Boots or Superdrug and wondered into The Body Shop to have a look.

I always find the staff so helpful, especially in the store near me, it makes it a really pleasant experience going into the store and purchasing. One of the store assistants advised me of their best selling concealer which is the Lightening Touch, and as I love trying out new products I decided to give this one a go.

I really love this concealer as it's just the right tint of yellow to counteract the dark circles and I hate it when a concealer clumps under your eyes and I found that this one doesn't do that - big bonus! It lasts me all working day, and then I reapply in the evening if I need to go out. It's a very light concealer but the coverage is excellent, I find that sometimes makeup can feel heavy on your skin. I would recommend this product, it's not often I find a concealer I really like and this is one of them.

You could have had anything you wanted from me, I’m a catch.

Top, skirt, boots all Topshop // necklaces Topshop, River Island and Rock 'n Rose

Last weekend I went out with my friend Claire for a lovely dinner at the Three Cups in Stockbridge which ended up in a dreaded trip to the club (I know, I'm sick) but actually we ended up having a really good time! Occasionally, and I mean like once in a blue moon, I will venture out for a dance. Usually I prefer to have a couple of drinks in a cocktail bar or after dinner, but actually a silly dance was something I needed.

I absolutely love this outfit because of the small details and the play in lengths and textures: you can't really see but the skirt is actually velvet. I usually wear this top with skinny jeans or disco trousers, but I thought it looked rather good in this outfit, so it's encouraged me to play around with different outfits and lengths.

So here we go, an outfit which is fashionable, cute and not naked for a night out! I'm just not up for baring my skin when the temperatures are at a minus.... Can't wait until the summer though, when the playsuits and wedges come out!

Comfort Blanket.

Dress Topshop (old) // scarf River Island // faux shearling gillet Primark // brogues Primark // nerd glasses * Firmoo

I haven't been feeling too great lately, probably because all this stress and upset from the past couple of weeks has finally taken it's toll and I'm just worn out, so my clothes and makeup are showing it as I just look cozy and ready to fall asleep any minute. I've been cuddling up in my faux shearling gillet which I have used in a few posts this month because it keeps me warm and looks really cute in a country style kind of way. I decided to mix some heritage looking colours like the tartan green dress and a red printed scarf for a country bumpkin feel, and added some brogues for a vintage feel. I've kept my makeup low key, just a bit of eye liner and lip stain, adding the nerd glasses accessorizes the face so if you don't want to pile on the makeup or just feel like hiding behind something for a day, these are my to go to item (when the sun isn't shining, otherwise it's oversized sunnies all the way!)

Quick update for you there, and of course an outfit idea (perfect for Sunday family roasts!) and if you like the way I style, please give me a mention at the Company Style Blogger Awards 2013 in the Best Personal Style Blog - Newcomer (sponsored by New Look) it would mean the world to me!

March Glossybox.

1. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream (£25): Favourite product of this months box, Eight Hour Cream is a multitasking miracle performer which can be used on dry skin, chapped lips and even to quickly give your eyebrows shape! I never knew this product existed (whoops..) but it was actually created in 1930 by Elizabeth Arden, so it's been a beauty favourite of many women for 83 years! Although it's quite pricey, I will be investing in a tub which I will carry around with me everywhere.

2. Nails Inc "St James" Nail Polish (£11): I am a big fan of Nails Inc polishes so I always get excited to see one in my box. St James nail polish is named after the original aristocratic area of London and is still considered to keep some of the best restaurants, gentlemen's clubs  and private banks. The pillarbox red colour is representative of the areas glamour - I love the intense and bright red.
For best application use a base coat and then apply two coats of St James polish. Finish with the Kensington Caviar Top Coat which dries in 45 seconds and voila! Your nails are ready to go.

3. Juicy Couture "Couture La La" (£63 for 100ml): Couture La La was created in Juicy Courutes image  of a womans layered personality: confident and fearless and flirty and feminine. Main scents in this perfume are feminine and bold florals, and a sensual scent of musk and woods.
I really liked the scent of this perfume, even though I haven't been a huge fan of Juicy Couture since I turned 19, this might just bring me back to use their perfumes again! They did a good job at making Couture La La super feminine and flirty, with a musky undertone.

4. TRESemme Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray (£4.69): This hairspray offers all day flexible firm hold which is humidity resistant and brushes out with ease. I am very skeptical about "hero" hairsprays as I have quite unruly hair which will not last all day and will definitely start annoying me in humid climates. To me this hairspray works like any other, it holds for a couple of hours until I start doing something like wondering around outside. It does have a firm hold so you don't have to intoxicate the room with fumes of chemicals which is what always happens to me and I have to leave for a second because I can't breathe! Also, quick tip - for added volume flip your hair upside down when spraying!

5. Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics Lip Brush "Cranberry" (£12): This was my second favourite product in the box firstly because it's great and secondly because it was full size. I got introduced to Jelly Pong Pong via my July 2012 Glossybox, and ever since I tried their Irish Cream Pavlova Lip Frosting, I've been a fan. This lip brush is super easy to use and handy when you're on the go, it works as a lip stain and a moisturiser with beeswax and ceresin wax to create a sheer and smooth application.
I love the colour of this lip brush, it can be a bright pink for a pop of colour or soft for a natural look. Also, I've been wearing it since it's been windy and the best thing about lip stains is that your hair doesn't get stuck on your lips! That is probably the most annoying thing about wearing glosses, is that your hair and your face is a mess the moment a gust of wind strikes.

So this months theme was City Cheek and Glossybox also included a cute city handbook and guide about all the best cities in the world! That was a cute treat and I hope they do things like that more often. Overall I liked all the products in the box, however was disappointed that Glossybox have lacked again on full sized products in this box. Although one could argue that all these products fit into your handbag and could be used when you're running around the city...

Did you get a lovey Glossybox this month? What products did you get?
