The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Compact Foundation.

The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Compact Foundation in 102 Natural Ivory £16

I love finding new foundations but I'm so picky with what I choose, everything has to be just right. I've been experimenting with The Body Shop makeup for the last couple of weeks as I've heard great things about the range but never tried them myself, however I absolutely adore the body products.

I picked up this compact mineral foundation which includes a mirror and a cruelty free brush for handy use on the go. I love mineral makeup but so far I have only tried mineral powder foundation and that was love at first use. I would recommend that type of foundation to anyone who has sensitive skin or suffers from acne or redness as the coverage is amazing and it's really gentle on the skin.
So I was very intrigues by the cream to powder aspect of this foundation - completely opposite to the powder foundation which turns creamy. The Extra Virgin Minerals Compact has cold pressed extra virgin olive oil as an ingredient which is pretty different to most foundations! It boasts to have medium to full coverage and a smooth matte finish.

So what did I think of this? Well firstly I was actually warned by the shop assistant that it has a really oily finish so powder on top is a must. And she was right - the foundation is incredibly oily if used on it's own so you have to cover up with a decent powder. I liked the soft brush, it was really easy to use, but the foundation was left with lines all over my face because it didn't blend as well as I'd hoped, so you really do have to spend some time on application of this product. Once applied, the foundation felt very light on my skin and I didn't feel as though it was clogging up my pores (thumbs up!). However it didn't last very long either, it's not a foundation that will stick to your face all day, or even a full working day.

The verdict: I like the idea of this foundation and I loved how light it was on my skin, and I think this foundation is perfect for people with dry skin or problem skin as it's not going to clog  your pores and cause further aggravation of the skin. Also people who prefer a natural look, I definitely wouldn't recommend it to those of you who prefer a more "obvious" makeup look. I'm going to keep hold of it for the summer when my skin is looking flawless and I don't feel like I want a lot of coverage on my face.
If the oilyness of the foundation could be eliminated, I think that would fix all the cons of the Extra Virgin Minerals Compact Foundation.

Have you tried the product? What did you think? I'd love to know if anyone has a different view on this foundation!

  4. I have ridiculously dry skin but even for me there was wayyy too much oil...I've had it for a year, I hardly ever use it, I'm trying to make it work. It's alright for days when I don't wanna wear much. XD So cute though :3

  5. I’m really amazed with your posting skills as well as with the layout on your blog site. Is this a paid style or did you modify it yourself? Either way keep up the pleasant quality writing, it is rare to see a great site such as this one these days.I recently came to know about www.avanaaustralia.com, their Mineral Makeup products are very effective.
