Summers nearly over and around this time of the year when your sunshine filled holidays have passed and BBQ's are fading out, we start to feel a little down. I get terrible S.A.D and even though I love the different seasons of the year, I can't help but feel stroppy. So, I decided to get dressed up and spend the day in the country.

Although the A/W 13 looks are concentrated more on darker colours, leather trims and influences of punk, I will always keep the softer looks close to my heart when the weather starts cooling down. There's nothing more cosy than chunky knit sweaters over the top of a floaty dress, add the fedora for an androgynous nod. Nude heels give the illusion of longer legs and kitten heels add a flirty nod to the outfit.

I have been saying this for a while now, but this year I will get away to the Scottish highlands for an extended weekend in the snow, in a cosy cabin situated in the middle of the woods with a warm fire and a glass of wine. Talking about cold seasons now, I have a feeling I might even escape my inevitable feelings of gloom.

If any of you lovely readers know of a good weekend getaway in Scotland, please post it in the comments box below! I'd love to hear where you've been / what's good and what's not!

dress Never Fully Dressed // body River Island // boots Zara // daisy crown Primark

Whilst looking for suitable locations to use for shooting outfit posts with a more hippie and country feel, we came across a lake with a family of swans. The birds were so beautiful, and the location seemed perfect for this particular outfit - a haunting lake, wild flowers and not a person in sight so we set up for a quick photo shoot.

Since I have discovered Never Fully Dressed, I have been obsessed by their clothes, especially dresses. With unique styles, great quality and affordable prices, this boutique has become one of my favourites pretty quickly! I love the contrast of the mesh dress with transparancy at the front and cotton at the back, and the ruched sleeves which go on for ever! I styled the dress with a black body from River Island and ankle boots from Zara, plus a daisy crown from Primark to add a little "cute" and "summer" into this outfit.

After ten minutes, the baby swan clocked us and decided to float over to say hello. I tend to think of myself as mini female Dr. Doolittle, so I was mega excited to see the swan coming over - until he decided to actually get out of the water and come over a little too close, which would have been ok had I had any bread to give him and if his over possesive parents didn't appear behind me and start to hiss, which made me experience very strong feelings of fear / knowing I'm about to get my ass kicked. So, I ran.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer Review.

I have seen a lot of beauty YouTubers rave about this amazing concealer which is as cheap as my Wednesday lunch, so I couldn't wait to get my hands on the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer. I bought the tube about 6 months ago, and I cannot even begin to explain just how much this product has become my deserted island item. I have previously used designer brands because for me a skin concealer is one of the most important makeup items: if my skin is feeling pretty good, I just apply a bit of concealer and powder; it comes up blemishes; it hides dark circles aquired from late nights. The list could go on.

The Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer has a thick consistency - for some that's a turn off when it comes to makeup, but I like how it actually covers things. I found that some skin concealers, although light and thin, don't actually do a lot. Especially when it comes to a spot which you REALLY need to hide because of a meeting / date / photoshoot / just because you hate it and no matter how much you apply, a barely there concealer just won't do the job. And I cannot fault the colour match of this high street gem: although quite pale, it blends perfectly with the skin on my face.

I cannot see myself switching concealers anytime soon, and although I might play around with different brands I will ensure that I always have the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in my makeup drawer for times when I need my skin to look flawless.

L'Oreal Skin Perfection Micellar Solution & Toner Review.

L'Oreal skincare, L'Oreal Skin Perfection, Micellar Water, Micellar Solution, skin toner, soft toner, sensitive skincare products, sensitive skin toner

A toner has become an essential item in my skin care routine and I'm always on the lookout for bargain buys on new products. I noticed the L'Oreal Skin Perfection range was on offer in both Boots and Superdrug, and as I was running out of toner I decided to grab these two new skincare products to try out.

The L'Oreal 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution was particularly interesting to me as I always wanted to try out Micellar Water, but never got round to picking one. This micellar solution is suitable for sensitive skin and does not contain alchohol or perfume, as well as being hypo-allergenic. It  dissolves makeup, unclogs pores, removes impurities, tones and soothes skin - all in one. A micellar solution works like a magnet which draws out impurities and oil from your skin which I thought is quite a cool concept! You apply the product onto cotton wool pads and hold over lashes, lips and lids for a couple of seconds, before simply wiping away.
You end up with fresh skin, and the L'Oreal 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution really does feel just like water but with the power of an effective makeup cleanser.

The L'Oreal Velvety-Soft Toner is a very different experience as most of the toners I used have been very fresh and left the skin feeling quite tight so I was used to that. The Skin Perfection toner removes impurities and leaves skin feeling silky smooth as well as toned, and is also suitable for sensitive skin. The toner feels silky and soft with the aroma of roses - a very pleasant experience on skin which has just been cleansed. Use this gentle toner morning and evening by applying a little bit of the product onto a cotton wool pad.

I found both of these products to be really good for such a cheap price and I would reccomend trying out the Micellar Solution to see how you like the concept of the product before going and spending £20 on something, which in the end you might find that the L'Oreal version is just as good.

A little while ago I entered a competition on Twitter to win one of The Pretty Junk slogan baseball tops and came out a successful owner of one! I love the baseball top trend, I think they look really cute in the summer with a pair of shorts and Vans, or with skinny jeans and boat shoes. This top retails for £32, and is so soft and comfortable I have been wearing it non stop. I love the slogan too "Fear No Bitch, Trust No Player" which has become a little bit of a motto amongst friends. They have more colours and prints on the website, so make sure you go check them out if you like this T!

Essie nail polish in "Naughty Nautical", "The More The Merrier" and "Sunday Funday" £7.99 each

As previously mentioned in my Essie nail polish related posts, I am growing very fond of the brand and the colours in their collections. This limited edition summer collection caught my eye when I saw "The More The Merrier" - I always wanted a lime coloured polish but I couldn't find just the right one. With a very close dupe from Barry M nail polishes, I did consider getting the cheaper alternative but upon inspecting the Essie polish, I realised I wanted this one.

The summer collection consist of colours which all look amazing with a tan. The coral and aqua shades have a subtle shimmer which makes the shine even more in the water and sunshine! It did take me a couple of coats to get the effect I wanted, but for me that's quite regular with Essie nail polishes."Sunday Funday" is a perfect coral colour with a very subtle hint of pink and shimmer, "Naughty Nautical" is a unique shade of aqua with the same shimmer effect as "Sunday Funday".

Update on FashionFake: I want to evolve the look of the blog! I've always looked up to fashion bloggers like Rumi Neely, Fanny Lyckman and Chiara Ferragni, who all have amazing street style and portray this on their blog through almost editorial style images, but with a lack of a consistent photographer and also busy day to day schedules, it is just easier with a tripod and a wall. I loved the outfit posts I had started nearly a year ago which fitted the style of my little blog - kitcsch, DIY and quirky. But I feel like both me and the FashionFake blog are slowly growing into something more sleek and proffessional, and I'm quite excited to watch my baby blog grow up.

This is the first "new look" fashion post with my River Island dress that I found in the sale for a bargain £10 which is always a bonus is any item of clothing I find! The detail on this dress is subtle yet structured like the sporty influence on the back of the item, the assymetrical cut which hits big with Spring/Summer 2013 trends and the cut out detail which is classy yet sexy as it comes up rather high, so I opted for black lycra hot pants just to keep the modesty. I love the way this dress looks with blazers and sleek stilletos for an evening of cocktails, or styled with a skinny belt and chunky heels for a more casual look.

I have recently discovered a new style website, Avenue 32, who sell current season styles from names like A.P.C, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Temperley London. I was asked to do a feature on a fashion name of my choice when I stumbled upon Cutler and Gross. I was familiar with the designers thanks to celebrities like Alexa Chung who's been spotted wearing the round style sunnies, and I like the quirky style of design, so I thought this feature is right up my street.

Cutler and Gross was established in 1969 by Graham Cutler and Tony Gross and the first store opened in 1971 in Knightsbridge, where they sold bespoke frames for eyewear. Their first fashion forward collection was highlighted at Fashion Week 1982, taking the names from bespoke opticians to fashion accessories. Since then, the duo has worked on collaborative collections with Erdem, Giles Deacon and Victoria Beckham.

With prices averaging at about £300, it is an investment piece for most people. However, examining some of the styles I can begin to justify such a high price for a pair of shades - it's not just in the name, but the intricate details of the shades. My favourite is the black oversized round pair of shades costing £350 (second picture from top) with leather handles, ombre glass and the perfect round shade to suit most faces. When there is so much thought put into the small details, a seemingly simple item becomes desirable, classic and timeless.

I'll bee keeping my eye on the upcoming Cutler and Gross collections (and lusting over my favourite pair until they go into the sale) and if you like quirky but timeless style, check out the current products on the Cutler and Gross page!
