Last night Liam and I went to see UB40 at the Salisbury City Hall and they were amazing! I got the tickets as a part of Liams birthday present because he loves UB40 and I'm quite a fan of some of their classics like "Red Red Wine" and of course, "Kingston Town".

Prior to the show, we stopped by Cafe Rouge for some dinner - I haven't eaten at Cafe Rouge before so I was very excited to try some French classics like Pain À L’ail rustic bread board, served with a roasted garlic bulb, garlic aïoli and d’Isigny butter, and for mains Liam had the Demi Poulet (half-roast chicken basted in a Café Rouge herb rub with a rich garlic butter. Served with frites) and I had the Confit de Canard (slow-cooked confit duck leg, spiced cherry jus, sugar snap peas and dauphinoise potatoes) and it was delicious!

When we got to the show, it started with a DJ playing remixes of popular reggae songs to get everyone up and dancing - and it really worked as you could quickly see everyone getting their "mum" dancing on: you know the one, where you just stand in one spot and swing from side to side, with the occasional hand movement! UB40 came on stage with a fabulous intro with saxophones and a trumpet - even if you don't like the style of music, you will appreciate how beautiful all the live instruments sound. They covered all their classic songs, as well as some new tunes from their current album - "Getting Over The Storm" I think - and we had loads of fun bopping around to the reggae beats! The bassist and the steel drums player came out from behind the instruments to sing and it was awesome! Especially when Earl Falconer sang "Oh America" - that was my favourite! The band finished with "(I Can't Help) Falling In Love With You" and it was a great end to a great night. The band sound so amazing live!

Today however, I am resuscitating my ears and my head but we are already eyeing up the next gig - Fleetwood Mac! For outfit details check FashionFake tomorrow :)
