what we're wearing: (Lana) H&M dress // watch Michael Kors // bag Chanel // necklace Zara //
(Max) shirt* Thomas Pink from House of Fraser // jeans Topman // bow tie Topman // watch Burtons

House of Fraser is one of my favourite department stores and I'm really excited to share this blog post with you - my first venture into mens fashion! I'm also excited as those who follow me on Instagram will know I am obsessed with stripes, it's like all I tend to wear most days, so writing about stripes is always a pleasure!

Without further delay, let's talk stripes in mens fashion: from formal suit attire, to casual jeans and shirt days, stripes have dominated menswear since the early 1920's when the thin vertical stripe was at its peak. Fast forward to 2015, the striped shirt is still at the peak of fashion - a classic item in a mans wardrobe which looks absolutely fantastic with jeans or chinos.
I styled this Thomas Pink shirt with a pair of skinny jeans and a contrasting pattern bow tie which I think is a great look on younger guys - thank you to my younger brother Max for being the model and my style Guinea pig! I love the details on the shirt, and the contrasting cuffs - the right colour is ideal for SS15, and will look equally as good with a pair of chino shorts and the top button undone for a casual Riviera look.

Talking of Riviera style, swap mens stripes for womens and you've got my favourite way to wear them: classic marina style diagonal stripes. I love this skater style dress from H&M - I'm very particular with my stripes, I don't like them too thin or too thick but these are just right! Accessorise your simple style dress with a classic bag and statement accessories and you're ready to rock this timeless style.

I'd like to end on a note of advice for guys: I'm not a mens fashion expert but when picking a shirt, make sure your shirt fits you well. There's nothing worse than going out looking like you've stolen your dads shirt, except maybe pairing that oversized shirt with a fat tie. That's taking it to the next level. Keep shirts fitted nicely with a skinny tie or a bow tie, depending on your style.
