Last month I started trialling Degustabox*, a monthly food discovery box, which unlike many others is actually affordable. I was initially very interested in Degustabox because they bring you releases from names which you would have heard of already (like Walkers Shortbread) but also brands which you may have never come across before - for me, it was The Primal Pantry. You can read my review of the July box and get a little more familiar with the concept in my previous post.
Anyway, back to the biscuits. I love shortbread and this was a lovely surprise from a heritage brands - they're great to take with you in your handbag if you get peckish whilst travelling too!
I love pasta, and usually I make my own sauce from scratch but it was really nice to get this Tomato & Chilli sauce for a quick fix. I will be posting a recipe for the perfect prawn Arrabiata pasta with these two ingredients so keep your eye out next Wednesday! The sauce was lovely, with a hint of spice and the meal was so quick and easy to cook.
For anyone who is going through a health kick, or simply loves to eat food that is good for you, you can't beat a Ryvita thin. Perfect for replacing bread but giving you enough energy to last from lunchtime until dinner, these thins make a tasty base for toppings like creme cheese and smoked salmon, pate spread or can be eaten as added crunch with a salad.
Cake in a mug. I think that's all we need to know here. It's a yummy, easy to make cake from Dr Oetker which you can even make in the office - IN A MUG. Get on the bandwagon and check out my Instagram for snaps of me and my mug cakes.
Another great biscuit to snack on is the Pick Up Dark Chocolate biscuit which comes in its own separate packaging so you can pop one in your bag to enjoy on the go crunchy goodness. For more of an indulgent snack, try the Choco Leibniz from Bahlsen - perfect to serve to guests with a cuppa or after dinner, these white chocolate covered biscuits are just gorgeous in taste.
Ok so for me, this is a really cool discovery. The Primal Pantry raw paleo bars are delicious and good for you too, I have been using them as an on-the-go snack and I love them. Healthy snacks are difficult to come by because unless it's fruit, or nuts in a bag, you always end up with some sort of additives like sugar, salt or unwanted dairy like yogurt.
Fru Snax have been featured previously in the Degustabox and they're a great snack on the go, or at the office. Pieces of fruit are mixed with yogurt drops for an indulgent, yet guilt free alternative to sweets.
Now I have drank 3 bottles of Life Tonics in the last two days and I honestly feel like I'm just going to become one big coconut water bottle soon - delicious and thirst quenching, Life Tonics combines coconut water with a bit of fizz and fruit extracts to keep you hydrated.
I'm a huge tea fan, even though I'm not supposed to drink that much of it because I am slightly iron deficient and tea contains tannins which can stop iron being absorbed into the body. However, I still drink a couple of cups a day and if I'm not feeling great then just lay off for a while. I love ginger tea, especially in the colder months as it warms up your whole body and soul with the tasty and zingy spice. Enjoy this with a slice of lemon and a dash of honey!
I never drink energy drinks like Red Bull because they just taste awful and also have a horrible effect on your body, so discovering a natural energy drink was pretty exciting. I drank this Organic Energy drink as I was on a mission to tidy the house in the morning - I wouldn't say it gave me tons of energy, but it tasted nice and kept me going. I guess this is a good product for people who do want more energy or are on the go, but yet conscious of what they put into their bodies.
The August Degustabox was delicious and I really enjoyed all the products from this months box - especially as a lot of them I could eat either on the go, or in the office.
Have you tried Degustabox? What do you think?
