Degustabox September Review

Degustabox has been a monthly box of foodie joy for me for the past three months. Each month when I receive a text to let me know my box is on its way, I get filled with excitement and curiosity of what I am going to find in the box.

Degustabox is always filled with old favourites and new artisan discovery finds in food and drink – from marshmallows to pasta, cider to raw fruit and nut bars, you will discover a whole range of items to include in your diet. The September box was one of my favourites with lots of treats and delicious finds...

Reeses Peanut Butter Cups is an old favourite for me – moreish, tasty peanut butter filled chocolate cups perfect to indulge in when your sweet tooth strikes. Reeses Peanut Butter Cups are filled with delicious but guilty goodness so eat in moderation! Or, make some nice peanut butter and collocate cookies!

I tried morning breakfast drinks and although they were OK, it’s not something I would buy on a regular basis. However, I really enjoyed Up & Go Vanilla flavoured morning drink (I’m not a huge fan of chocolate drinks or food in the morning, so I gave that one to Liam and he loved it too) – it wasn’t too sweet and really easy to drink!

If ever an iced tea had a queen or king, this would be it. Forget about pumpkin spiced lattes, this should be the cult Autumn drink we’re all fighting for! Fresh and spiced, this ice tea tastes like it has been homemade somewhere on a farm by a lady in an apron – I have no idea where it’s actually made, probably in a factory some place. BUT it still gives you the good old Southern American feeling of sitting on a crisp front porch with decorative pumpkins and falling leaves.

Popcorn is all the rage because it’s a great snack to have if you’re transitioning into a healthier diet. It’s moreish, can be sweet or salty and doesn’t pile a lot onto your daily calorie amount. My favourite was Sweet & Salty which was the perfect amount of both sweet and salty popcorn – massive thumbs up! Liam enjoyed a less conventional Cappuccino flavour which was a really nice change from the key flavours usually present in popcorn.

Who doesn’t love a good sweet in the afternoon?! I always get a little craving for some chewy, sugary treats after lunch and although I always try and substitute sweets with fruits, it’s not catastrophic if once in a while you have some sweets. Good old favourites like Jelly Babies and Wine Gums are perfect to pop in your lunchbox and share with colleagues after lunch!

I love a good cider in all seasons of the year – there’s something very happy about the taste, it reminds me of Summer days in festival fields and Autumn markets getting ready for festivities. I love pear cider, it tastes very much like pear drop sweets – delicious in warmer days with ice; and the apple cider can be drank warmed up, also I sometimes add a pinch of cinnamon to make a spiced cider!

Green tea is an excellent refresher drink and perfect on the go – I always have a bottle of green tea in my bag when I’m travelling. I love flavoured green teas as I find that on its own green tea can taste a little fishy... am I the only one? Green tea has lots of benefits like being a well known antioxidant – just make sure you’re not drinking tea which has grams of sugar and artificial flavourings because that’s going to counteract any goodness the natural green tea does.

Mallow and Marsh is such a cute marshmallow company! The raspberry marshmallows in this months Degustabox were so delicious and 100% natural. These bad boys are made in the UK and are not only the perfect midnight snack (shhhh, no one needs to know they happen) but also delicious and pretty enough to serve to guests.

I don't eat or drink anything that provides artificial energy, like Red Bull and coffee is an absolute no no for me, mainly because I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks which I sometimes find these energy drinks can bring on by causing rapid heart beat. But Liam who exercises a lot really enjoyed these mocha flavoured squares of mind and body fuel. These promise to help you stay alert and awake with one portion!
