what i'm wearing: vintage velvet jacket // leather dress H&M // patent black ankle boots ASOS // hat H&M // bag* George at ASDA // necklace Accessorize

A couple of weeks ago my mum came by my house and brought me her gorgeous black velvet blazer style jacket - one she's had for years, and I'm pretty sure it was someone else's beforehand. It has the most beautiful gold appliqué and military style buttons - perfect for Autumn styling! I love vintage clothing - as much as the majority of my wardrobe does consist of high street pieces, I think vintage finds make all the difference because no one else will have the same items, and pieces which tell a story also lift your whole outfit.

Autumn styling for me is all about mixing textures to make your outfit interesting - in this outfit I paired my velvet jacket with a faux leather dress. I think leather and velvet works well because they are such contrasting fabrics, soft and hard, like leather and fur look really great together too. I added my super shiny patent boots because I was inspired by the military style buttons - and the hat too! Cute and comfy patent ankle boots are the perfect alternative to wellies for a city chic look - when it's wet outside I always opt for Hunters in the countryside and patent booties for everyday city wear.
