During our visit to Shrewsbury, we stumbled upon many exciting places to eat, drink and shop. One of the first places we visited for breakfast was The Loopy Shrew - it looked really nice, and had an extensive breakfast menu. Want to know the best part? They served Spicy Bloody Marys. Although usually I wouldn't even consider a cocktail for breakfast like EVER, we were technically on a mini break away and a drop of alchohol just before midday wouldn't hurt, right?
We opted for a nice cup of tea, coffee and a Spicy Bloody Mary each then went on to decide what we wanted to eat. Liam already knew he was going to go for the large Full English Breakfast, and I decided the the sound of Eggs Florentine, English Muffin, Poached Eggs, Wilted Spinach and Hollandaise was just too good to pass.
We had our drinks and chatted in a nice relaxed atmosphere. There was a choice of tables and chairs, or tables and sofas to really feel like home. I do have to say that the breakfast took a little long to get to us, we even had to query at one point when we were going to eat (which we never do because I just hate chasing food at restaurants) but when the breakfasts arrived, we really didn't care how long it took because they looked amazing and tasted even better.
The Full English is made from local organic ingredients, cooked perfectly (especially the eggs) and the sausages are a work of magic. I am not a huge fan of sausages, but when I tried one I have to say I loved it! They're not as fatty as most sausages and taste fresh and lean.
My Eggs Florentine were some of the best I have eaten - runny and deliciously tasty, perfect with the hollandaise and mushroom. Absolute YUM!
Another thing to mention is that The Loopy Shrew turns into a cocktail bar at night, as we ended up going for a couple of vinos there after our dinner out. So it kind of offers the whole package of breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and even a bed to sleep in (rooms available).
