Dr Organic Snail Gel Review

A little while ago, I went to a very interesting press event which was themed around organic and natural beauty. In the goody bag, I received this Dr Organic Snail Gel - and I went to go and speak to the representatives of Dr Organic to find out more about a somewhat alien product to me.

Dr Organic Snail Gel is an innovation in organic and natural skincare. Discovered by South American farmers who came across snail slime a lot during their days farming, they soon realised that their hands which were covered in slime were smooth, soft and protected from sun damage. This idea then got taken into a lab, and Snail Gel was born.
I didn't know how this product could be made, and had horrible visions of poor snails getting crushed, or their slime being sucked out of them - but no, the snails are actually all pretty happy and die of natural causes. These are special snails which are free-roaming in a habitat which is ideal for them, the slime is then harvested from the glass walls of this habitat and used in the gel. And the snails carry on living happy, healthy lives until they die of old age!

Dr Organic Snail Gel has been proven to be effective is softening wrinkles and smoothing skin, which is great for keeping your skin naturally young and flexible. As this gel is free from all petro-chemicals, harsh additives, parabens and SLS (sodium lauryl sulphate - which is a well known skin irritant), you aren't putting in anything bad into your skin. The gel smells like lemons, it has an uplifting zesty scent and spreads easily into the skin, sinking in within seconds.
I like to use the gel sporadically when my skin needs to recharge - the main ingredient is Helix Aspersa Muller which is naturally produced by snails in order to repair and regenerate their own shells and skin when it is damaged. It also contains Aloe Vera which has healing and soothing properties - a magical formula by my counts.

The Snail Gel is available exclusively from Holland & Barrett.

How To Tackle Negative Comparison Thoughts

How do I stop comparing myself to others by lifestyle blogger FashionFake
How do I stop comparing myself to others by lifestyle blogger FashionFake

No one ever, in the history of the world, can say they have never been jealous or compared themselves to others. It's only natural that we look at people around us and make comparisons to their achievements vs our own, and occasionally everyone feels jealous of something another person has. When done a lot, these feelings can become unhealthy.

Restaurant Review: The Loopy Shrew, Shrewsbury, Shropshire

The Loopy Shrew review Shrewsbury, food bloggers, lifestyle bloggers, FashionFake blog

During our visit to Shrewsbury, we stumbled upon many exciting places to eat, drink and shop. One of the first places we visited for breakfast was The Loopy Shrew - it looked really nice, and had an extensive breakfast menu. Want to know the best part? They served Spicy Bloody Marys. Although usually I wouldn't even consider a cocktail for breakfast like EVER, we were technically on a mini break away and a drop of alchohol just before midday wouldn't hurt, right?

Ruby Cosmetics Review

When I went to the Clothes Show in Birmingham back in December, I was introduced to Ruby Cosmetics, a makeup brand known for their super easy stencil eyebrow powder. I bought the show special full product pack to review, which included the Brown Eye Shadow set, Picture Perfect Brows stencil and powder, and a shimmer lipgloss in Pink.

Our Stay at Ninks Wagon, Shropshire

Ninks Wagon, circus wagon, lifestyle bloggers, FashionFake blog, travel bloggers

Last weekend we stayed at Ninks Wagon in Shropshire - a 1920s authentic circus wagon which sleeps 2, set in the beautiful Shropshire countryside. Liam and I needed to get away for a couple of days and escape the business of our jobs and every day chores, and this was the perfect to place to sit back and relax.
Ninks Wagon is located near Shrewsbury, in a small village called English Frankton (what a cute name!), and is run by Nink who spent years working for the circus. She's lovely, and has so many stories to tell about animals and circus travels - it was fascinating speaking to her. She is very helpful and friendly with anything that we needed.

what i'm wearing: vintage dress (hand-me-down from my best friend) // faux fur giller F&F at Tesco // felt fedora hat Topshop // boots Topshop (old) // bag* George at ASDA

Vintage clothing is an investment (or a bargain!) that enriches any wardrobe - I love finding unique and colourful pieces to add to mine. This little gem was a hand-me-down from my best friend (her wardrobe clear outs are seriously the best! Folk inspired patterns and prints are my absolute favourite - pieces from the 70's always look incredible, and better with age.

I'm sharing with you my top tips on how to hunt down vintage gems - be sure to let me know what your secrets are to ensure a good vintage hunt!

- Know your budget. You don't have to spend a lot of money to grab beautiful vintage pieces and depending on your budget, choose the store/market you'll be visiting. Charity shops are a great way to search for vintage gems if your budget is a couple of quid, but cities like Bath have incredible vintage boutique shops.
- Get out of your comfort zone. Try on new things, experiment with colour and shape (like the 80s shoulder pads!) - vintage shopping is pure fun!
- Don't be put off by the smell. I know this sounds weird, but I have had so many people comment on how vintage stores and markets smell like old people but honestly there's no room for snobbery in good old vintage. If you find a dress/top/shirt you really like just go for it - washing machines were made for a reason.
- Search for hidden stores. Although there are high profile markets and stores, be sure to visit vintage stalls and shops in cities you're passing through. I found an amazing shop in Hastings that I have never heard of before but they have incredible stock that I just fell in love with!

what i'm wearing: coat H&M (old) // jeans Jamie Topshop // scarf Topshop // leopard print booth Kurt Geiger // bag Chanel // rings, earrings and necklace Topshop // watch* Jord

Oversized fashion has dominated the catwalks and high street for some time now - I love the look, but for ages I found it difficult to wear myself. It wasn't really until my friend had a wardrobe clearout and I snapped up this oversized coat from H&M, that I really got a feel of how cute and easy the oversized look is.

The key to wearing oversized clothing is to pick one item, rather than going overboard and simply looking like you've kitted yourself out in clothing that just doesn't fit you. I love a cocoon coat with skinny jeans and high heels for a more dressed up look - casually, I swap the heels for Converse and pop on a cute fluffy bobble hat!

Another trend I'm currently loving are the small hopped earrings - I think they look chic and stylish. It's a fine line to walk though before you go a step too far and end up looking like Vicky Pollard, rather than RiRi or BeyBey!

Valentines Day Gift Guide: For Him

Valentines Day Gift Guide For Him, lifestyle bloggers, FashionFake blog

If you read my previous post which is the Valentines Day Gift Guide For Her, you'll know that this year it's all about cheap and cheerful gifts - this theme extends to my Valentines Day Gift Guide For Him. I love finding cute items which I think my boyfriend will like - this year I got a pretty good haul! Without further delay, lets dive in and see what treats I think make the perfect Valentines Day gifts for boys.

Lindt Chocolate is the classic choice - who doesn't like a box of delicious chocolate truffles? A smooth, sweet centre to indulge in - and the best part? You can both share this present over your favourite movie marathon.

I first came across Red Anchor grooming products last year when looking for Christmas presents, and gave a beard care set to Liam. He absolutely loved the products - the beard oil made his beard super soft, and the smell of sandalwood made me want to sit next to him and just inhale (that's definitely not weird...). This set includes the Face and Beard Wash, Beard Oil and Moustache Wax - a full care set for those sexy lumberjack types in our lives!

I am so in love with this cute little book I bought from Paperchase - you get to fill in the blanks on topics about you and your other half. Such a lovely idea, and the book is very small which means if your boyfriend travels a lot he can take the book with him and keep cute thoughts and memories by his side all the time! Love it.

Talking of Paperchase, they always win at cards. This card is special to me because when we first got together Liam always used to play John Legends "All Of Me" (such a cliche song now, but at the time when it was first released it was pretty cute!). I also love the sticker on the envelope which looks like an old school seal - those little touches is what makes Paperchase the clear winner or cards for me!

Konifer watches are made from real wood in Canada, and come in many styles and wood types. I love this oversized watch face and chunky strap (it's also unisex, makes stealing your boyfriends accessories more than acceptable!). This watch is made from Sandalwood, this watch is handmade eco-friendly, and looks great worn casually with a tartan shirt or a simple white t-shirt.

How are you celebrating Valentines Day this year? Do you indulge in the festivities, or prefer a quiet night in with pizza and Netflix?

#TheStableWassail Bloggers Event

The Stable restaurant in Winchester, Hampshire bloggers, lifestyle bloggers, FashionFake

This weekend I hosted #TheStableWassail blogger event at The Stable restaurant in Winchester - I was so excited as this was my first Hampshire bloggers event and I've been wanting to do one for ages! Usually bloggers end up going to London for meet ups and events - but I've had feedback from Hampshire bloggers that it would be nice to host a get together closer to home.

The Stable approached me to see if I wanted to organise and host an intimate, casual get together with some of my favourite Hampshire bloggers fuelled by pizza and cider - I immediately knew this was going to be a winner! You can't really go wrong with pizza and cider. We also thought as this is around the time of the year when Wassail celebrations hit the South of England, it was the perfect time to celebrate with some cider tasting. I didn't know what Wassailing was but soon found out that it is a celebration with pagan roots that originated in the South of England - people would dress up, sport floral crowns, paint their faces and spend the evening dancing and singing around apple trees to ask the gods for a successful cider crop. I thought it was such a lovely celebration that we had to get involved!

Although we couldn't fit any apple trees into The Stable, we did source some brilliant local suppliers who brought along their delicious ciders and spoke to us about some interesting facts regarding this scrumptious drink. For example did you know that most ciders we find in supermarkets are actually 70% water? When in reality good authentic cider is pure juice. But there is no way to find out just from reading the label how good your cider is because legal requirements don't call for that kind of description. So if you're a bit of a connoisseur, then always check the brands website for information on what you're actually drinking. We had the pleasure of meeting Tutts Clump Cider and Fosseway Cider from Somerset who produce authentic and delicious cider.

There was so much cider to taste - so much! I couldn't keep up with the suppliers who talked about the different types of cider - my favourites were the dry varieties, I'm not a huge lover of sweet drinks. Wine and cider is better when it's dry! I was so happy to see pizzas come out - I think most bloggers would agree that we needed something to soak up the alcohol! I love pizza from The Stable - it is actually my favourite pizza around. You can read my introductory post about The Stable and the kinds of pizza they have here - be warned, it will make you hungry! We got to sample a new pizza which included curried goat - yum! My favourite pizzas include King Alfreds Catch which is super fishy but one of the most delicious pizzas ever (I never liked fish on pizza before I tried this), and also the Barkham Blues which is a blue cheese pizza with potatoes - it's divine!

The day was so relaxed and gave everyone a chance to catch up and meet other bloggers. I was so happy to catch up with old friends and meet new ones, and I definitely think that I will be doing another Hampshire bloggers meet up soon! Thank you so much to these lovelies for coming and making the day fabulous: Ami from Perks of Being Ami; Becky from Becky Bedbug; Heidi from Heidi Bawden; Jess from Chique Unique Critique; Leigh from Fox and Feather Blog; Lucy from World This Weekend; Pippa from Ballpoints and Biscuits; and Maddie from Mode Madeleine.

Valentines Day Gift Guide: For Her

What to get your girlfriend for Valentines Day - Valentines Day Gift Guide by blogger FashionFake

Valentines Day is upon us and I have been thinking about what I want to write about in this gift guide when inspiration struck - I wanted to bring you a cheap and cheerful guide of presents to give to the girl you love. For me it's more important to spend money on spending time together, rather than gifts - this year for example we are going away for the weekend to spend quality time together and splash out on dining and exploring Shropshire, which to me is the perfect way to celebrate Valentines Day. So, if you're on the same wavelength and me, but still want to give the girl you love a little something on Valentines Day then read on!

Let's start with the classic: chocolates. I don't think I know anyone who wouldn't like a box of delicious chocolates to land on their lap - especially on such a sweet and sickly day! My pick is Lind Lindor Milk Chocolate Truffles* - they are simply divine. Sweet, soft and truly indulgent these chocolates won't break the bank with a price tag starting at £1.35 for a 50g box. These are a present both of you can enjoy whilst watching your favourite films on Netflix! You can find Lindt Lindor Truffles in most popular supermarkets.

I have been a huge fan of I Love... skincare because it is such a cute brand and the products they make smell absolutely divine. The best thing? They're very affordable. I chose to indulge in the Strawberries and Cream range* this Valentines Day because it's a pretty cute and romantic theme, sweetly scented and comes in a huge variety of products. From shower gel to scrubs, lip balms and lip tints, and my favourite scented spray - you can gift your loved one from £1.49 at Superdrug.

When it comes to underwear, I'm currently loving New Look - they have a huge selection of styles and colours at a great price! I love this set which is very versatile and perfect for everyday wear, as well as special occasions, and the best thing is that you can mix and match items from their range. This set comes it at under £10 with the bralet costing £4.99 and pants £3.99 - amazing! At this price, it would be silly not to grab a couple more in different colours!

If you are wanting to spend some dolla this Valentines Day, then perfume is the way to go. A classic like Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel will sit on her dressing table for years as this perfume really does last a long time - the scent is strong and unique so one spritz is really truly enough! Fresh and strong, the scent sparks of vibrant orange, jasmine, rose and underlying accents of patchouli and vetiver - YUM!
