Day Out In Lymington

It's taken me a little while to get round to posting about our day out in Lymington as the past few months have been crazy busy, but I just had to make time and write a whole load of blog posts because I miss blogging! And also, I now have a business website (you can check out Dalry Rose Digital here) so I have more freedom to post about fun stuff on my blog again - yay!

Lymington is a port town in Hampshire, and it's the perfect little town for a cosy family day out. We decided to go and explore it during the Lymington Seafood Festival which is a new annual event by the quay, and as the whole family loves seafood we couldn't miss this new Hampshire food festival.

The seafood festival was held in Bath Road Park and was free to enter, with many stalls hosting food, drink, and also helping to educate festival goers in ethical sourcing of fish and seafood. Some food favourites like crab & mac just had to be done - although I have to say I still haven't found a crab & mac which is really flavoured with crab, or lobster - it mainly tastes of just really great mac & cheese. We had delicious seafood paella (a street food must!), spicy tuna sushi rolls which were delish, some cheeky cocktails in the sun, and little bites of food samples. But one thing I was really curious about is a crab grilled cheese - a toasty, gooey, fishy beautiful mess.

The crab grilled cheese was worth the wait - I mean the grilled cheese on its own was fantastic, but to have a layer of white crab meat was simply delicious! Served with a pickle (I LOVE pickles), this was my favourite street food meal of the day. My mum liked it too, but Liam wasn't a fan - there was something that freaked him out about having cheese and fish. He isn't a fan of this combination - the only dish he ever refused to eat that was put in front of him was my seafood tagliatelle with creme and parmesan - he simply refused. What a cheek. (It was delicious if you're wondering!).

After we fuelled up at the seafood festival, mum had the best idea of going on a boat ride around the Lymington Quay - it was a sunny, warm day and it would be silly not to enjoy the views! We hopped on a little boat which took us around the quay and into the bay - the views were stunning. Seeing all the yachts and boats around made me really want to get into the marina lifestyle!

We finished the day by enjoying a glass of (very overpriced) wine a pub which overlooked the sea - the views were beautiful, and you definitely pay for the scenery! But it was worth it - sitting in the sunshine, catching up, relaxing... I don't think I'm ready for summer to be over when I reminisce about days like this!
