One Year Of Business, One Year Of Being My Own 'Girl Boss'

Wow. Can you guys believe it? It's officially been a year since I stepped out of a comfortable 9-5 office job with a nice salary, and went at it on my own. And what an incredible journey it has been!
I did an update after the first half of the year - you can read it here - and I thought it would be a shame not to tell you how the rest of the year went, because it went.

So what's happened to me since the last update? Well, there has been more campaigns, more clients, and more excitant along the way! First of all, I decided to launch my own website separate from the blog - I decided it was time to go back to my roots with my blog and get a little less formal; at the same time I needed a platform for my clients to be able to see what I can do to help them, and showcase my work/testimonials. So if you haven't seen it, make sure to check out Dalry Rose Digital Marketing in Hampshire! I work with small businesses in Hampshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire and I love it! It was with Dalry Rose Digital that I did my first event exhibition and networking event in Andover this year and met very exciting businesses in the area.

Talking of networking, local networking events have been a great way for me to get to know local creatives in the area and tell potential clients about what I do. From one of the networking groups, I was asked to be a key speaker at an annual business event which this year focussed on the importance of digital media for small businesses. I was very excited to share my knowledge of social media and blogging for business which by the way I am so happy companies are getting excited about! This means that more bloggers can use their skills to take a blog from a hobby to a full time job - trust me, you can do it. The presentation was exciting and fun - and the audience loved it. How do I know? Well, because they told me! And here's a little behind the scenes of me getting my public speaking on!

I discovered I loved teaching and talking to businesses about social media and blogging, and getting them to realise how important it is when it comes to growth. It's a passion of mine, and that passion shines through when I'm passing my knowledge and opinions on my topics of expertise! And from that passion and knowledge, I managed to grow my business enough that not only can I sustain myself and keep going with Dalry Rose Digital, which I feared I would have to give up and go back to a 9-5, but I am also now nearly completely booked up from Monday-Friday. I have a few hours to either fill with new clients, or take a long weekend / work on my blog which is also productive and good for me. It's a very exciting time for me! Here are a few more behind the scenes of some creative lifestyle photo shoots I did for brands - by the way, you can catch more behind the scenes action on my Instagram!

What else has happened this year? I grew a pair of balls. Or let's put it in a more pleasant way - I blossomed, just like my business. In both my personal life, as well as in business. I decided that it's about time I stopped taking crap from people around me - including near ones and dear ones - and spent time with like-minded people who are good for me, not who are toxic or controlling. I figured out my worth and decided to stick to it - in personal and business aspects. I know the value of my work and my time, and refuse to take less than my work is worth.

I build a community around my life full of exciting, inspiring, supportive people; growing businesses; boss babes and dudes. I have to admit to my dear readers that I haven't posted as much blog content as I would like to have done this year, but paying clients will always come first (because you know, bills and rent), but I am conscious of it and I will try and post more constantly so you always have exciting new content to read over a cup of tea or a glass of wine!

I really hope you enjoyed this quick roundup of my first year of business - of course there is so much more to say but I feel like it's more of a first novel than a blog post! As always, if you're an aspiring boss girl then feel free to message me with your questions; and if you're looking for help with social media and blogging around the Southern area, then I'm your gal.
