How To Cleanse Your Mind And Hit The Restart Button

Ivory Gloss Box review, Hampshire bloggers, UK lifestyle bloggers, mindfulness blog

Hitting the restart button on our minds is hard: I'm a huge fan of spirituality and mindfulness, but I still have a lot to practice when it comes to sitting down and meditating. It's something I really want to learn because when I do take those 10 minutes to sit down and think about what really matters, or simply cleanse my mind from any thought, I feel refreshed and calm.

I was introduced to the Ivory Gloss Box by the founder Gemma Rowbothom when we connected on Instagram - she told me about the new subscription box and I was very eager to try the concept of a wellness box which was focussed on all self love and healing. In our busy lives it's so important to look after yourself because if you don't then who will? Keeping your own energy up and your mind healthy should be a priority - I learnt this the hard way when I felt ill and anxious because I was focussed on everyone else, completely neglecting myself and my needs. Ever since that experience, I learnt to put my body and mind first - after all, you can't pour from an empty cup or in my case: an anxious, stressed, sleep deprived cup.

The Ivory Gloss Box arrived and I was super excited to see what's in it - the concept is a subscription box full of goodies, think a holistic and healthy Glossybox. Every item in the box is connected, this box contained: a sage and lavender stick; a traditional sage ash capturing dish; a meditation crystal; an essential oil roll on; candle; notepad; herbal tea; and a revitalising drink. Plus a free meditation song download which are brilliant when practicing the ritual.

The box comes with a ritual manual which tells you the sequence of how to learn meditation and the art of cleansing your mind. I loved the scent of burning sage with lavender - it's a calm, earthy, cleansing scent. Sage is used in different cultures in order to cleanse the home and the body of negativity in different forms - I actually bought my first stick of sage from Glastonbury town and have been using it ever since. But sage and lavender is my new favourite thing! Especially with the beautiful shell dish for capturing ash during burning and cleansing. During this ritual, you are taught to try and focus on some questions or difficult situations in your life, then at the end of the mediation see if you have any ideas or answers for the situation. This was my first go and I still felt a little distracted because everything was so new to me - in time though I think I'll be able to calm my mind a bit more and truly listen to the universe.

Personally I'm obsessed with essential oils and aromatherapy rollers - my bergamot oil was a lifesaver during my flight to Spain, I just kept sniffing it and it calmed me down. I always burn oils around the house and know a little bit about their properties - citrus helps lift the mood and energy, lavender calms you down, mint cleanses... I have several different aromatherapy rollers all for different purposes, and I'm going to have this Reset Ritual oil on me for the times when I feel like I need a little pick me up during the day.

I really enjoyed using the Ivory Gloss Box and practicing mindfulness, meditation, and self care - this box contains everything I needed to hit the restart button on my mind and effectively on my body. I cannot stress enough the importance of taking care of your mind - it effects us in more ways than we think. A stressed mind can lead to a weaker body; disorders; illnesses - but taking 10 minutes out of your day or even week can make all the difference. I have made meditation a part of my weekend routine and every Sunday I cleanse the house of negative energy with sage, and spend 10 minutes practicing mindfulness and meditation.
