In The Kitchen: M&S Sizzling Wasabi Burger And Dirty Fries

Wasabi Burger Recipe from M&S, M&S Beef Traceability, Hampshire blog, food bloggers UK

There's no doubt - summer is the time for BBQ's and al fresco dining. What can be better than sunshine, fresh air and delicious food? I love sharing these moments with my friends and family, and we jump on the opportunity to enjoy some good food outside.

I teamed up with Marks & Spencer to try a delicious sizzling wasabi burger recipe for the whole family to enjoy - I was especially keen to talk to them about their new beef traceability campaign. M&S say:
From corned beef to fillet steak, every single piece of beef that M&S sells has two things in common – it can be traced back to the farm and animal it came from AND it is British.

Now more than ever this is very important to me. For the past few years I have taken care to eat food which I know more about which means cutting out eating the amount of meat I used to in favour of organic and locally sourced produce; this also goes for seasonal fruit and vegetables; and even more fish and seafood if possible - all sustainable as much as possible. So when a brand has the confidence to announce that they can trace every single piece of beef they sell, from corned beef to fillet steak, it gives me that little bit of peace of mind.

I have teamed up with Marks & Spencer to try one of their new summer recipes which sounded right up my street - a sizzling wasabi burger with dirty fries. Fire up the grill! I enjoy making homemade burgers as I find them quite easy to make and they taste so much better than already bought - and making small changes like adding wasabi to the beef patties can make a big difference.

M&S Sizzling Wasabi Burger:

- 500g minced beef
- 2 tsp wasabi paste
- 3 tbsp fresh coriander leaves
- 4 burger buns
- 4 tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 handfuls lettuce leaf
- 2 spring onions

Method:

Shred the spring onions. Chop the fresh coriander leaves.

1. Place the beef, wasabi paste and coriander in a mixing bowl and stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper.
2. Using your hands, shape into four equal-sized patties. Chill until ready to cook.
3. Heat a barbecue or grill to medium hot. Cook the burgers for 3-4 minutes each side, or until cooked through, turning once.
4. Serve in the buns with a dollop of mayonnaise, lettuce and spring onions.

YUM! The burgers were so delicious - everyone demolished them! It's a real family pleaser, and there is a slight hint of wasabi so if you're not a fan of spicy don't feel like you can't get involved - it's there for a slight hint of taste!

The other showstopper were the Dirty Fries - Cajun spiced fries, topped with Monterey Jack, Cheddar and mozzarella cheese; jalapeƱos; and bacon sauce. It's gooey goodness that is a true people pleaser. We actually went back and bought a few more packets to freeze for occasions like BBQ's or dinners with friends and family.

Serve this delicious feast with a couple of cold drinks (we chose a light ale and some ginger ale for the drivers!), a mixed leaf salad, and plenty of condiments - personally I do like my chips with mayonnaise and hot sauce.
