I am a huge fan of organisation - lists, diaries, planners...you name it, I probably have it. Not only do I plan as a job, I have always been a bit of a control freak when it comes to getting things done and from an early age discovered the power of lists, and generally getting things out on paper. I'm also a planner - I am not a huge fan of spontaneity, mainly because I have such a busy lifestyle, so I like to plan and slot things ahead. And I know I am definitely not the only one out there who loves a good planning on paper session.
Recently I have acquired a cute suite of planning tools which I wanted to share with you. These 3 books are my daily helpers, to ensure everything that's going on is in front of me and I don't miss anything. I know you can minimise "clutter" by using your phone or iPad as a planner but there is something very special about paper pads - let's not make them disappear and become redundant!
The first thing I want to introduce you to is my yearly diary. I am forgetful. I don't remember birthdays. I double book myself all the time. For me, a diary isn't even worth negotiating - it's a necessity. This diary is from Paperchase, the porn hub for stationary lovers. I love the size of this diary which is perfect to fit into small bags, yet the days are big enough to give you 4/5 points to make and appointments to keep. This is a yearly diary which is perfect because I write in all birthdays, anniversaries and holidays planned ahead and I can see any upcoming clashes before I commit. It also has a yearly overview, a notes section and a mini phone book.
My second paper helper is also from Paperchase and I have only recently discovered it but this is actually a god send - this is a daily "To Do" list, with a goal and a reward! You can write in your goal for the week, be it admin/emails/tidy, and give yourself a reward at the end of the week (pizza!!) - then complete your daily to do list by checking off everything you planned to do. It's great! I write out my weekly to do plans, give myself a reward at the end of completion - this helps me work my way through all my chores.
The third and final planner is specifically for my blog and comes from *TOAD Diaries. This is a personalised planner which I have created with TOAD that helps me keep on track of all things FashionFake - from blog post scheduling, to keeping track of PR samples, to planning events. I have to admit, I had a little accident with this planner....whilst working on my blog, I spilled coconut water all over the planner and now all the pages are crinkly and thick. I can still use it, but aesthetically I won't show you what the pages look like inside because it's just a mess.... Kinda of makes it look like an old boom found from the Tudor times.
I have made the planner last two years, it has a notes section and a little pocket where you can keep useful business cards or travel cards. You can also personalise the cover with a pattern or colour, and write your name/business name on it.
These three planning tools are my daily go-to items which help me stay on track of everything going on. I now need to add a wedding planner to this list so keep an eye out on Instagram to see what gorgeous book I pick up next!
