I never went to my prom - in Year 11, my family moved to England from Budapest and I didn't really enjoy the new school, the people in it (except for a couple of girls who I made friends with), the teachers or even the lessons. So at the end of my GCSE's, I just wanted to leave and not come back - ever. So I stayed away from this celebration and a passing through to "adult" life.
When boohoo.com contacted me to see if I would be interested in being a Prom Queen for the day, I was over the moon. Although I didn't go to my own prom, I always wanted to wear a gorgeous dress (please, no tacky slim curls and metallic and taffeta dresses!) and own the crown.
I picked this white Zaira laser cut fabric dress because I love the traditional prom dress cut, and white is such a beautiful summer colour that can be accessorised in a number of ways. I wanted to show you how versatile a dress can be - and not only for prom, but for real life too. I styled this prom dress in three themes: Prom Queen, rock chick and boho babe. Which one is your favourite?
Rock chicks don't care about the Prom Queen status - they know they rule, and don't need anyone else's appreciation. Add a leather gillet or jacket (depending on weather) and wear draped over your shoulders. Add matching black killer heels with stud detailing, and a box clutch. Think tough, warrior like jewellery: cuffs, statement necklaces, chunky rings. Finish the look with red lipstick - fierce, chic and ready to kill it on the dance floor.
Boho babes are soft, sweet and fun - just like this look. Flowers are a must, especially if they're in the form of a crown! Bright pops of colour add depth to the dress and layers of denim or lumberjack square fabrics always go well - I love tying up the denim shirt for a country-esque feel. This look isn't too serious - it's for girls who really want to have fun. At the end of the night, loose the shirt, swing your boho waves around and look up at the sky - you own it giiiiirl!
Love these different styles. I personally love the rock chick one xo
